Polar Alcove is a seating system inspired by the blocks of ice that
float in the waters of the North Sea, a place far from the frenzy of urban
life where silence and pristine nature abound. Thanks to the new high
backrest that creates an intimate, private space, the seating’s generous
proportions and oblique angles form islands of total relaxation. The seat
can also be equipped with a USB port, making it a strategic ally for
enjoying the utmost comfort without giving up the benefits of modern
technology.

Polar Alcove ist ein Sitzsystem, das von den Eisblöcken inspiriert ist,
die in den Gewässern der Nordsee schwimmen, einem Ort fernab der
Hektik des städtischen Lebens, wo Stille und unberührte Natur herrschen.
Dank der neuen hohen Rückenlehne, die einen intimen, privaten Raum
schafft, bilden die großzügigen Proportionen und die schrägen Winkel des
Sitzes Inseln der totalen Entspannung. Der Sitz kann auch mit einem
USB-Anschluss ausgestattet werden und ist damit ein strategischer
Verbündeter, um höchsten Komfort zu genießen, ohne auf die Vorteile der

Polar Alcove est un système de sièges inspiré des blocs de glace
qui flottent sur les eaux des mers du Nord, un espace loin de l’agitation de
la vie urbaine où règnent le silence et une nature intacte. Les volumes
abondants et les découpes obliques forment des ilots de détente totale
grâce au nouveau dossier haut qui crée un espace isolé et intime. L’assise
peut également être équipée d’un port USB, accessoire qui en fait une
alliée stratégique pour s’octroyer un maximum de confort sans renoncer
aux avantages de la technologie contemporaine.

PearsonLloyd is one of the leading names in contem-
porary British design, and this multidisciplinary studio
works in a wide range of sectors: from furnishing
to public spaces to brand development. Established
by Luke Pearson and Tom Lloyd in 1997, the studio
has received numerous acknowledgements and acco-
lades in both Europe and the United States. The British
design duo write regularly for major design magazines,
as well as acting as “visiting lecturers” at the École
Cantonale d’Art in Lausanne.
