Design becomes a system in the Chill-Out project by Gordon

Guillaumier. Linear geometries lend themselves to many different uses,

shape-shifting into customizable sectional arrangements that can

delineate different areas in a single space. Chill-Out is a system of sofas

and armchairs, complete with in-line coffee tables, that constructs

conversation areas with a businesslike aesthetic that exudes avant-garde

elegance, enveloping the space it defines in the beauty of design and

the pleasure of comfort. Chill-Out elements can stand alone, in linear

arrangements, or be combined in corner sectional layouts. Thanks to the

repeated uniformity of the shapes, the visual effect is ensured. The metal

structure and upholstered seats and backrests are complemented by

elegant coffee tables in Carrara, Calacatta or Basaltina marble or black

Travertine with matte finish.

Design zu einem System. Eine lineare Geometrie und die vielseitige

Nutzung bieten kombinierbare und personalisierbare Gestaltungsmöglich-

keiten, mit denen sich unterschiedliche Ambiente im gleichen Raum

schaffen lassen. Chill-Out ist ein System mit Sofas, Sesseln und Couchti-

schen für die Gestaltung gemeinschaftlich genutzter Bereiche, die sich

durch ihre geordnete Ästhetik und ihren eleganten und avantgardistischen

Charakter auszeichnen und die Schönheit des Designs mit dem Vergnü-

gen des Komforts verbinden. Die Elemente von Chill-Out lassen sich

einzeln, in linearen Kombinationen oder in abgewinkelten Kombinationen

in den Raum einfügen. Das Ergebnis hat durch die wiederholte Regelmä-

ßigkeit der Formen eine große visuelle Wirkung, die mit den einzelnen

Elementen mit Metallgestell und gepolsterten Sitzflächen und Rückenleh-

nen erzielt wird, in Kombination mit eleganten Couchtischen aus Marmor

vom Typ Carrara, Calacatta, Basaltina oder schwarzem Travertino mit

matter Oberfläche.

Le design devient système dans le projet Chill-Out, conçu par

Gordon Guillaumier. La géométrie linéaire et les multiples possibilités d’uti-

lisation donnent forme à une création modulaire et personnalisable, per-

mettant de créer des zones diverses dans un même espace. Chill-Out

est un système de canapés et fauteuils, comprenant également des tables

basses, qui construit des espaces de partage et de relation dotés d’une

esthétique ordonnée et élégamment novatrice, en délimitant dans l’es-

pace identifié la beauté du dessin et le plaisir du confort. Les éléments

Chill-Out s’intègrent de différentes manière dans la pièce : seul, en com-

position droite ou en composition d’angle. Le résultat visuel est impres-

sionnant grâce à la régularité répétée des formes – avec un piètement

métallique et des assises et dossiers rembourrés – que viennent compléter

avec raffinement des tables basses en marbre de Carrare, Calacatta,

Basaltina ou Travertin noir, en finition mate.

Gordon Guillaumier

Gordon Guillaumier was born in 1966, and was educated

firstly in Malta, then in Switzerland, England and Italy.

He graduated from IED in Milan (1988-91), before spe-

cializing in design at the Domus Academy, Milan (1992).

In 1993 he began working with Baleri Associati, as well

as collaborating with architect Rodolfo Dordoni. In 2002

he set up his own design studio in Milan, principally

working on product design, but also for design consul-

tancy projects. In 2006 he lectured in industrial design

at Milan’s Politecnico university.
