Nel 2018 lo showroom antoniolupi di Porta Tenaglia ha raddoppiato i
suoi spazi che sono stati ripensati da Calvi e Brambilla per una presenza
importante in una Milano sempre più internazionale. Concentrandosi sulla
particolare conformazione dello spazio, il piano terra di una elegante torre
progettata negli anni ‘50 dagli architetti Baselli e Portaluppi, gli architetti
hanno deciso di lavorare sulla scatola architettonica dello showroom. Lo
spazio che si sviluppa soprattutto in lunghezza, evoca la sequenza di
tante sale da bagno che l’una dopo l’altra, si offrono allo sguardo per
essere ammirate, anche dall’esterno delle quattordici vetrine a tutta
altezza. Il nuovo soffitto, costituito da volte architettoniche volutamente
irregolari e ‘appese’ al fondo scuro, regala profondità a tutto lo showroom.
Volutamente gli archi non coincidono né con gli spazi né con le vetrine.
Un gesto di libertà rispetto a certe simmetrie spaziali.

In 2018 the antoniolupi showroom in Porta Tenaglia has doubled its
spaces, which have been redesigned by Calvi and Brambilla for an
important presence in an increasingly international Milan. Focusing on
the particular shape of the space, the ground floor of an elegant tower
designed in the 1950s by architects Baselli and Portaluppi, the architects
decided to work on the architectural box of the showroom. The space that
develops above all in length, evokes the sequence of many bathrooms
that one after the other offer themselves to be admired, even from the
outside of the fourteen full-height windows. The new ceiling, consisting
of deliberately irregular architectural vaults and “hung” to the dark
background gives depth to the whole showroom. The arches intentionally
do not coincide either with the spaces or with the windows. A gesture of
freedom with respect to certain spatial symmetries.
