Formafantasma

Formafantasma is a research-based design studio

investigating the ecological, historical, political

and social forces shaping the discipline of design

today. The studio was founded in 2009 by Andrea

Trimarchi and Simone Farresin. The aim of the stu-

dio is to facilitate a deeper understanding of both

our natural and built environments and to propose

transformative interventions through design and

its material, technical, social, and discursive pos-

sibilities. Working from their studio in Milan (Italy)

and Rotterdam (The Netherlands), the practice em-

braces a broad spectrum of typologies and meth-

ods, from product design through spatial design,

strategic planning and design consultancy.

Whether designing to a client’s brief or developing

self-initiated projects, the studio applies the same

rigorous attention to context, process and detail.

Giacomo Moor

Born in Milan, Giacomo Moor founds his studio in

Milan in 2009. Together with his multidisciplinary

team, made up of architects, designers and car-

penters, he develops products for companies, cre-

ates limited editions for design galleries and de-

velops and produces interiors for private clients,

always supervising the entire creative process.

Moor combines the integrity and rigor of the pro-

ject with manual sensibility. His ability to com-

bine technical and aesthetic skills, supervising the

aspects related to production, are constant ele-

ments of his working method. He has participated

in different exhibitions in Paris, London, New York,

Singapore, Porto and other cities. Among his cli-

ents: Acerbis, Desalto, Galleria Luisa delle Piane,

Giustini/Stagetti, LiveinSlums, Living Divani,

Memphis, Spotti Milano, Triennale di Milano,

Wallpaper, and Yoox.

Nato nel 1981, Giacomo Moor fonda il suo studio a

Milano nel 2009. Insieme al suo team multidisci-

plinare, composto da architetti, designer e falegna-

mi, disegna prodotti per aziende, sviluppa col-

lezioni per gallerie di design, progetta e produce

interni per clienti privati, seguendo l’intero pro-

cesso creativo. Moor unisce la precisione e il rigo-

re del progetto alla sensibilità manuale. Il suo

approccio empirico e risolutivo, la sua capacità di

unire competenze tecniche ed estetiche, antici-

pando le problematiche legate alla lavorazione dei

materiali, sono elementi costanti del suo metodo

di lavoro. Ha partecipato a mostre ed esposizioni a

Parigi, Londra, New York, Singapore, Porto e altre

città. Tra i suoi clienti: Acerbis, Desalto, Galleria

Luca Papini

Luca Papini was born on 16th February 1975 in

Brescia. He studied at the Faculty of Architecture

in Florence and then he graduated in Industrial

Design at the IED in Milan. Some of his works have

won international awards: in 2006 and in 2010

he won the Chicago Good Design Award, in 2010

he was awarded a special mention for his “in-

novative and environmentally friendly” product by

the jury of the Gran Design Etico of Milan and in

2011 he received the nomination for the German

Design Preis and not least he won the ADA

Archiproducts Design Award in 2018. Luca Papini

teaches Product design at the European Institute

of Design in Milan and he is visiting professor at the

Tsinghua University in Beijing. He lives and works

on Lake Maggiore.

Nasce il 16 febbraio 1975 a Brescia. Frequenta la

Facoltà di Architettura a Firenze e in seguito con-

segue il diploma in Industrial Design presso lo IED

di Milano. Dopo alcuni anni di esperienza presso

importanti studi apre nel 2006 la sua attività foca-

lizzandosi sull’industrial design. Alcuni dei suoi

lavori hanno ricevuto premi a livello internazionale:

Adolini (1956) architect, graduated from the Sapi-

enza University in Rome, and has been working

professionally since the 80s with parallel experi-

ences in the architectural field and industrial

design. From 2011 to 2016 he was professor at the

Faculty of Architecture and Design of the Uni-

versity of Ferrara. Niccolò Adolini (1987) designer,

trained at the Mendrisio Academy of Architecture,

and graduated in 2011 from the IED in Rome. Soon

after graduating, he carries out an apprentice-

ship at the Studio Dordoni in Milan. Since 2016 he

has been a lecturer at IED Rome and Sichuan

Normal University in Chengdu (China). Since 2018

he has been a director of ADI Lazio.

University of Ferrara. She gets the MA in Design

at Domus Academy. From 2004 until July 2012 she

collaborates with James Irvine, growing an inter-

national knowledge and vision. From 2014 until April

2017 she gives continuity to the studio together

with Marialaura Rossiello Irvine under the name of

Studio Irvine. From May 2017 she runs her own

business and she set her design studio in Milano.

She periodically teaches in some Italian design

Universities and she is visiting professor at Ecal.

Her design approach is based on a continuous

personal interaction with clients, technicians, ma-

terials. She focuses on product design, exhibition

design, art direction and interiors.

Hans Thyge Raunkjaer together with its fellow ar-

chitects of his own studio Hans Thyge & Co., has

designed since the first ever step of our company

in 2001. We fell in love with Ono, his first ever de-

sign of a tap series, and we are still falling in love of

his designs, throbbing core of the very essence

of our company. From the transformation of arche-

types in the design process — combined with

strong technological innovation — springs a pecu-

liar expression, that stalls between Italian inspira-

tion and Scandinavian tradition.

Hans Thyge Raunkjaer, insieme ai suo colleghi ar-

chitetti nel suo studio Hans Thyge & Co., ha dise-

gnato per noi dai primi passi compiuti dalla nostra

azienda. Ci siamo innamorati di Ono, il suo primo

vero design di una serie di rubinetteria, e ancora ci

emozionano i suoi progetti che sono ancora il

cuore pulsante della QuadroDesign. Dalla trasfor-

mazione di archetipi durante il suo processo

creativo — combinata ad una forte innovazione tec-

nologica — deriva una espressione alternativa,

che si ferma tra ispirazione italiana e tradizione

scandinava.
