La nascita di una nuova materia

“L’uomo non crea, osserva, compone...

e poi modella.”

La passione per la natura e per la materia mi ac-

compagna fin dall’infanzia.

Ed è proprio grazie all’osservazione della natura

ed all’amore per la mia terra che sono nati dei

cotti unici e innovativi.

Tutto ebbe inizio nel 1979 quando il Parroco di

Lesa mi chiamò per un restauro di quelle che cre-

deva essere delle cementine.

Fù uno stupore per me trovarmi di fronte ad un

cotto dalle caratteristiche tecniche di resi-

stenza e compattezza davvero singolari.

Questo materiale mi incuriosì a tal punto che de-

cisi di ripercorrerne la storia e riscoprirne i

segreti.

Cominciai dalle argille che sicuramente dovevano

essere locali.

La zona delle Colline Novaresi ha argille molto

preziose ma ad un primo esame non sufficientemente

plastiche da essere solide e resistenti una volta

cotte.

Come un alchimista mi dedicai alla ricerca

della giusta formula, e così, lavorai incessante-

mente sulle miscele, sulle macinature e su qualche

altro piccolo segreto... dopo innumerevoli ten-

tetivi il prodotto che otteni fu stupefacente.

Era il 1981 quando, con orgoglio, presentammo uffi-

cialmente il Cotto Ramazzotti.

Quello non fu per me un arrivo, bensì un’impor-

tante punto di partenza.

Da allora non ho mai smesso di cercare nuove

terre, nuove miscele e nuovi colori per i miei

cotti, che si presentano oggi, grazie ad un equi-

librio tra antichi saperi e innovazione, come un

prodotto unico sul mercato, sia per un’estetica

contemporanea e ricercata che per delle caratte-

ristiche tecniche introvabili in qualsiasi cotto

fatto a mano.

Questo è uno dei sogni più belli che io abbia rea-

lizzato; rendere omaggio alla mia terra.

The passion for nature and materials, has grown

with me since childhood.

It is because of the observation of nature and the

love for my land that I was able to create the unique

and innovative Terracotta tiles.

All began in 1979 when the priest of Lesa (Novara)

called me for a restoration of what was believed

to be cement tiles.

However I realised that I was in front of Terra-

cotta tiles with amazing characteristics of resi-

stance and compactness.

This material intrigued me so much that I decided

to retrace the history and discover its

secrets.

I began by choose local clay.

Novara hills have good clays, but not plastic

enough to be strong and solid when cooked. Like an

alchemist I devoted myself to search for the right

formula, and so, I worked tirelessly on mixtures

and after countless attempts the final product

obtainable was incredible.

It was 1981 when we officially presented our “Cotto

Ramazzotti”.

That wasn`t the end but an important point of

departure.

Since then I have never stopped seeking new

landscapes, new blends and new colours for my Cotto

Ramazzotti. Today it is balance between ancient

knowledge and innovation, as unique product on the

market, both for aesthetic and contemporary style.

This is one of the most beautiful dream I've

made: pay tribute to my land.
