Craftsmanship and artisan methods, the use of local materials,

as well as the interest in creating spaces that link architecture,

local surroundings and interior design, are the main affinities shared

by Gandia Blasco Group and Japanese architect Kengo Kuma.

The recent collaboration initiated between the two has already

borne its first fruits. On the one hand, the Goz rug collection for GAN

and, on the other, the design of a new modular and reusable stand

concept, capable of transmitting the essential values of the group

and, in turn, the language of each brand.

For the Goz rug collection, the architect developed three designs

that are made on a manual loom, inserting round, semi-circular

or square teak wood rods into a framework of undyed virgin wool.

An innovative rug concept whose materiality is clearly reminiscent

of Japanese tatami mats. In the same way, for the stand, the

architect was inspired by Japanese bamboo screens known as

sudare, with which he created an organic and fluid space of soft

partitions, made with Valencian wooden shutters, that connect

perfectly with the Mediterranean culture.

La artesanía y los métodos de elaboración a mano, el uso de materiales

locales así como el interés por crear espacios con una arquitectura,

entorno y diseño interior vinculados, son las principales afinidades

compartidas entre Gandia Blasco Group y el arquitecto japonés Kengo

Kuma. La reciente colaboración iniciada entre ambos ha dado ya sus

primeros frutos. Por un lado, con la colección de alfombras Goz para

GAN y, por otro, con el diseño de un nuevo concepto de estand modular

y reutilizable, capaz de transmitir los valores esenciales del grupo y,

a su vez, el lenguaje propio de cada marca.

Para la colección de alfombras Goz, el arquitecto ha creado tres diseños

que se confeccionan en un telar manual, intercalando varillas de madera

de teca de sección circular, semicircular o cuadrada en un entramado de

lana virgen sin teñir. Un innovador concepto de alfombra cuya mezcla de

materiales tiene unas claras reminiscencias a los tatamis japoneses. Del

mismo modo, para el estand el arquitecto se ha inspirado en los estores

de bambú japoneses conocidos como sudare, con los que ha creado

un espacio orgánico y fluido de particiones suaves, cuyas superficies,

elaboradas con persianas valencianas de madera, conectan a la

perfección con la cultura mediterránea.
