Tivoli

Gardens

The Tivoli Gardens (or simply Tivoli) is an

amusement park and pleasure garden located in

the center of Copenhagen, Denmark.

Inspired by parks he had seen abroad on his

travels, Tivoli’s founder Georg Carstensen set out

to create an amusement park in the capital of

Denmark. The park opened its doors for the first

time on August 15th 1843, making it the second-

oldest operating amusement park in the world.

Since the opening, guests have been awestruck

by the elegant and exotic gardens. Among them

was the one and only Hans Christian Andersen, who

was inspired to write his fairy tale the Nightingale.

Georg Carstensen said “Tivoli will never be done”.

To this day, these words are still deeply rooted

in the Tivoli DNA and manifest themselves in the

continual development of the concept and brand.
