The River Piave
La Serenissima ha costruito la sua
flotta e la sua città, Venezia, con i tronchi delle Dolomiti
che sono stati trasportati per secoli fino alla laguna lungo il fiume Piave dagli zattieri,
riconosciuti dall'UNESCO Patrimonio Culturale Immateriale dell'Umanità.
The Venetian Serenissima Republic built its fleet and city of Venice with tree trunks from
the Dolomites, for centuries transported to the Lagoon on rafts along the River Piave.
The zattieri, the men who sailed the rafts down the river, are now a UNESCO Intangible
Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
