Chichén Itzá is an important Maya archaeological structure located in the North of

the Yucatán peninsula in Mexico. Chichén Itzá was created between the VI and the XI

centuries. The ruins occupy an area of 3 square kilometers, and they include numerous

buildings, which represent different architectural styles, such as the Kulkulkan Pyramid, the

Astronomical Observatory, and the Tample of the Warriors.

In 1988, UNESCO declared the site a heritage of the humanity. Today, Chichén Itzá is

administered by the Instuto Nacional de Antropología e Historia. In addition, since 2007, it

has been included in the Modern World’s Seven Wonders
