Nové stroje, využití páry, elek-
třiny, evoluční teorie. 19. století
přineslo řadu dosud nepřeko-
naných objevů. Jedním z nich
je i technologie ručního ohý-
bání masivního dřeva. Michael
Thonet společně se svými syny
na jejich základech vybudoval
síť továren a z tvarů ručně
ohýbaných kulatých profilů dali
vzniknout ikonám patřícím mezi
milníky designu.
V roce 1861 je začali vyrábět
také v Bystřici pod Hostýnem.
Logisticky výhodná poloha, do-
statek bukového dřeva a šikovná
pracovní síla předurčily na další
desetiletí ráz místa, které si
náročné řemeslo i přes řadu
změn ve vlastnictví továrny, od
roku 1953 již fungující pod suve-
rénní značkou TON, dochovalo
dodnes.
Srdce zde tepe stále ve stejném
rytmu. Rytmu zkušených
ohýbačů, kteří dokáží za den
ohnout do připravených forem
stovky hranolků. Jejich rychlost,
síla a schopnost vnímat dřevo
nepřestává fascinovat. Také
zbylému procesu výroby stále
dominuje ruční práce, doplněná
originálním přístupem desig-
nérů, novými technologiemi
a zodpovědným přístupem
k přírodním zdrojům. Díky tomu
vám nabízíme kvalitu, která
vydrží po generace.

Industrialisation, steam power,
electricity, evolutionary
theory – the nineteenth century
produced many remarkable
innovations unsurpassed to
this day. One of these was the
technique of bending wood,
a technique on which Michael
Thonet and his sons built
a network of factories where
they transformed bent wood
into iconic furniture designs.
Production began in 1861 in
Bystřice pod Hostýnem. The
logistically advantageous
position with plentiful beech
trees in the surrounding forests,
combined with a skilled local
workforce, shaped the spirit of
a factory that has managed to
preserve its exacting craft for
more than 150 years. In spite of
several changes in ownership,
the factory has been producing
under the independent label
TON since 1953.
Work at TON beats to the same
rhythm as it did 150 years ago.
The rhythm of skilled wood
benders placing hundreds of
pieces of wood into bending
forms each day. Their strength,
speed and affinity with wood
continue to fascinate no
matter how many times one
observes their craft. Manual
work also dominates the rest
of the production process,
complemented by the innovative
work of our designers,
technological advancements
and our responsible
management of natural
resources. This is TON – quality
that will last for generations.

Neue Maschinen, Nutzung von
Dampf, Elektrizität, Evolutions-
theorie. Das 19. Jahrhundert
brachte zahlreiche beispiellose
Entdeckungen mit sich. Eine
davon ist die Technologie des
manuellen Biegens von Massiv-
holz. Auf ihrer Grundlage schuf
Michael Thonet mit seinen
Söhnen ein Netz von Fabriken,
wobei aus den Formen der von
Hand gebogenen Rundprofile
Ikonen entstanden, die zu den
Meilensteinen des Designs
gehören.
Im Jahre 1861 wurde auch in
Bystřice pod Hostýnem ihre
Produktion aufgenommen.
Die logistisch günstige Lage,
die reichlichen Buchenholz-
Ressourcen und nicht zuletzt
handwerkliches Geschick
prädestinierten für Jahrzehnte
den Charakter jenes Ortes, der
das anspruchsvolle Handwerk
trotz zahlreichen Änderungen
der Eigentumsverhältnisse der
Fabrik, die seit dem Jahre 1953
bereits unter der souveränen
Marke TON arbeitete, bis heute
zu bewahren vermochte.
Hier schlägt das Herz immer
noch in gleichem Rhythmus.
Im Rhythmus erfahrener Bieger,
die in der Lage sind, an einem
Tag hunderten Kanthölzern die
gewünschte Form zu verleihen.
Ihre Wendigkeit, ihre Kraft und
Fähigkeit zur Wahrnehmung
des Holzes sind nach wie vor
faszinierend. Auch im übrigen
Herstellungsprozess überwiegt
immer noch die Handarbeit im
Einklang mit der Originalität der
Designer, den neuen Techno-
logien und dem verantwor-
tungsbewussten Umgang mit
den natürlichen Ressourcen.
Daher bieten wir Ihnen eine
Qualität an, die Generationen
überdauert.

Industrializacja, maszyny
parowe, elektryczność i teoria
ewolucji – dziewiętnasty wiek
obfitował w bezprecedensowe
odkrycia. Jednym z nich była
technologia ręcznego gięcia
litego drewna. Michał Thonet
wraz z synami, na bazie swojej
technologii zbudował szereg
fabryk, które ręcznie wygięte
elementy bukowego drewna
przekształcały w krzesła,
będące ikonami współczesnego
wzornictwa.
Produkcję w miejscowości
Bystřice pod Hostýnem rozpo-
częto w 1861 roku. Doskonałe
logistycznie położenie, dostatek
bukowego drewna i wykształ-
conych pracowników zapewniły
fabryce dobrego ducha na po-
nad 150 lat. Mimo wielu zmian
właścicielskich na przestrzeni
dziejów fabryka produkuje
nieprzerwanie, a od 1953 roku
funkcjonuje pod suwerenną
marką TON.
Serce TON bije w tym samym
rytmie od 150 lat. W rytmie
doświadczonych pracowników
giętarni, którzy potrafią pochylić
się nad setkami elemen-
tów dziennie. Ich szybkość
i precyzja działania i dosko-
nała znajomość drewna wciąż
fascynuje. Proces produkcyjny
jest wciąż zdominowany przez
pracę ręczną, którą uzupełniają
innowacyjne projekty, nowoc-
zesna technologia maszynowa
i odpowiedzialne korzystanie
z zasobów naturalnych. Dzięki
temu dajemy Wam jakość, która
przetrwa pokolenia.

De nouvelles machines, l’utili-
sation de la vapeur, l’électricité,
la théorie de l’évolution. Le
19e siècle nous a apporté tant
de découvertes qui restent
encore aujourd’hui exception-
nelles. L’une d’elles, le cintrage
du bois massif, a été reprise par
Michael Thonet et ses fils qui
ont d’ailleurs créé un réseau
d’usines dont la fabrication
des produits s’appuyait sur
cette technologie. Le cintrage
de profilés de bois ronds leur
a d’ailleurs permis de créer des
icônes aujourd’hui devenues de
véritables jalons de l’évolution
du design.
En 1861, la fabrication est
également lancée à Bystřice
pod Hostýnem. Une situation
stratégique, la présence de
grands volumes de hêtre et une
main d’œuvre habile ont été des
éléments clés qui ont permis
de pérenniser cet artisanat
difficile. L’entreprise a connu
de nombreux changements de
propriétaires, mais depuis 1953,
elle fonctionne sous le nom
désormais célèbre de TON.
Son cœur continue de battre
au même rythme. Celui des
cintreurs habiles qui sont
capables de cintrer des cen-
taines de pièces de bois placées
dans des moules spéciaux.
Leur vitesse, leur force et leur
compréhension du bois sont
toujours aussi fascinantes. Les
processus de fabrication restent
à dominante manuelle, com-
plétés par l’approche originale
des designers, par de nouvelles
technologies, mais aussi par une
démarche responsable vis-à-vis
des ressources naturelles. Nous
sommes ainsi en mesure de
vous proposer une qualité qui
survit aux générations.

než rok. Do jejich atmosféry
vložil prvky steampunku.

atmosphere of steampunk.
A genre of science fiction,
steampunk considers steam
power to be the main driver of
technology. Works created in
this genre present the future in
the way that people imagined it
during the nineteenth century.

einfließen. Dieses retro-futuris-
tische Kunstgenre präsentiert

schaft. Die in ihrem Geiste
entstandenen Werke stellen
Projektionen der Zukunft dar,
