Nulla è un progetto che rappresenta l’inizio e la fine del mio lavoro

sulla luce. L’inizio perché da sempre cerco la luce assoluta, quella

che arriva da lontano, quasi senza fonte. La fine perché ogni volta

che guardo Nulla mi sembra di non potere andare più avanti di così.

Nulla genera luce e diffonde mistero.

Modula i volti e i corpi creando una danza di ombre vibranti. È la

più generosa delle lampade, quella che si nasconde al solo scopo

di regalare la scena al soggetto illuminato. Ciò che appare è solo

un minuscolo buco nero, quasi disegnato. Un foro di 18 millimetri di

diametro nel soffitto, un LED potentissimo e una lente che generano

la luce. Nulla è un lavoro estremo di sottrazione, che unisce

elettronica e ottica verso la sfida finale. L’assenza del supporto,

l’essenza della luce.

Nulla is a project that represents both the beginning and end of my

work on light. It’s the beginning, in the sense that I have always been

looking for absolute light, one coming from a distance, almost without

a source. It’s the end in that every time I look at Nulla, I feel as though

I can’t get it better than that.

Nulla generates light and propagates mystery. It changes faces and

bodies into a dance of vibrant shadows. Nulla is the most generous

of my lamps. Its sole objective is to hide and give all the attention to

whatever it is lighting. What one can see of the light source is only

a tiny black hole, as if it were drawn on the ceiling, a circle with a

diameter of 18 mm, hiding a very bright LED and lens to project the

light. Nulla is an extreme expression of subtraction, uniting optics and

electronics as an answer to the ultimate challenge. It’s the absence of

structural support and the essence of light.
