FAq - 11 questions and 11 answers

on the treatment of Plant and Primary Technical Water

1 I have a radiant floor system that heats “here

and there” in a non-uniform way. What can i do to

improve it?

Without doubt algae has formed due to the system’s air per-

meability, in addition to the favourable water temperature of

around 35 - 40 °C. In such cases it is necessary to clean the

system by circulating Thermakil through it using a special

high-prevalence Disiflux pump. Normally it takes 30 to 60

minutes to break up even the most stubborn forms of aerobic

and anaerobic bacteria.

2 What causes the loud noise in my boiler and what

products should I use to solve the problem?

Boiler noise is caused by local water boiling. This happens

when the internal surface of the boiler over-heats due to

limescale deposits or sludge which has hardened due to

heat. After five years all systems can become noisy, and new

boilers in old systems are particularly at risk.Filmax 8.0 is

an FDA product ideal for solving this kind of problem thanks

to its special noise-re-ducing, deoxygenating and de-ironing

action.

3 Can Fastop-IT be left to circulate in the system

once the leak has been fixed?

Once the sealing has been carried out and verified by me-

ans of a seal test of the system, the product can be left run-

ning in the circuit for a maximum of thirty days, after which

the circuit must be drained, washed and refilled with water.

4 Whatproductisrecommendedinfood-gradesystems

as well as solar panels to achieve good protec- tion

against frost?

Thanks to its inhibitor package not containing any amines,

nitrites and substances harmful to humans and the environ-

ment, monopropylene glycol, a non-toxic raw material, is the

main ingredient of Aligel and Aligel HC30 e HC20 BIO pro-

ducts and is suitable for use in the food sector as well as ide-

al for solar systems due to its high resistance to temperature

changes.

5 The pH level of the anti-freeze has dropped below

7.5 - 8, what product should I use to restore the an-

ti-corrosion protection?

Filmax 9.0 is a corrosion inhibitor for heating and cooling

circuits to be used in case the liquid circulating in the system

does not exert a sufficient passivation on the metal parts of

which it is composed. The drop in pH highlights a reduction

in the alkaline reserve and there-fore in the anti-corrosion

protection.

6 Is there a specific product to dissolve sludge that

has formed due to overheating of anti-freeze in solar

panel systems?

Yes, Solar Clean is a fast-acting and effective detergent spe-

cifically designed to remove deposits and sludge generated

by solar fluids degraded by excessive exploitation and tem-

perature changes that could create blockages in the collec-

tor tubes.

7 Is there an easy-to-use descaler?

Yes, Disinex is an inhibited acid-based descaler, provid- ed

with a colour-depletion indicator that can be used in a wide

range of applications: to remove rust and corrosion from me-

tal structures, to remove limescale or silicon deposits from

pipes and closed circulation systems of boilers and heat

exchangers, to pickle concrete, to eliminate traces of oxi-

dation from various metals. The initial pink/red colour of Di-

sinex changes to orange/yel- low when the acid has lost its

effectiveness. In the case of delicate surfaces such as light

alloys (aluminum, aluminum-silicon) or galvanized surfaces,

we recommend the use of descalers from the Zinconex se-

ries, which also have a color change and are alco suitable

for sanitary systems.

8 What product should I use to sanitise a water col-

lection tank?

WL-Sanifast is the ideal product. It is a stabilised chlorine

dioxide-based product, much more effective and faster than

traditional chlorine and leaves no traces or unpleas- ant

smells in water; it is designed specifically for the treatment

of collection water in tanks, basins, and cisterns thanks to

its bactericidal, biocidal and virucidal action. By law, water

treated with WL-Sanifast is consid- ered potable when it con-

tains a concentration of chlorine dioxide between 0.2 and

0.4 ppm or mg/lt. Alternatively, WL Asettix Ipochlor, a very

high concentration electrolytic hypochlorous acid solution

for the disinfection treatment of primary waters, aeraulic sy-

stems and surfaces in all kinds of environments.

9 What products should be used to prevent limesca-

le in food plants and domestic water?

Products from the Polifos series, available in tablets (Polifos

Ricariche), crystals (Polifos Cristalli), powder (Polifos Polve-

re) and liquid form (Polifos Fluid) comply with EEC standards

for food use and domestic water. They are also recommen-

ded according to Law 46/90 and UNI 8065:2019 standard.

10 Is it possible to remove limescale from my water at

home?

In order to remove limescale from water at home simply in-

stall a domestic water softener from the AQUATEMIT® Se-

ries range; the benefits of softened water are evident: greater

efficiency and lower running costs for boilers and household

appliances (washing machine, boiler, dishwasher, etc.), re-

duced consumption of detergents, less effort in cleaning the

house, softer hair and skin.

11 Is a polyphosphate dispenser recommended if the

water is already softened?

It is always recommended to install a food-grade polypho-

sphate dispenser on the incoming water; the latter in fact

are able to perform a double anticorrosive action in the case

of softened water and encrusting in the case of hard water.

Obviously in the presence of a softener, specially calibrated

between 8 and 12 french degrees, the properties that will

interest us most are the anti-corrosive ones.
