Il colore come esperienza tattile

Alla domanda “cos’è il colore” gli antichi avrebbero

risposto “una qualità soggettiva”; oggi la risposta

scientifica potrebbe essere “l’apprezzamento di una

radiazione visibile”. In ogni caso il colore si manifesta

come esperienza sensoriale dell’osservatore, associata

normalmente al senso della vista. Fermandoci a

riflettere sulla sensazione ricevuta dall’osservazione di

ciascun colore, dal freddo al caldo, ci rendiamo tuttavia

conto che alla vista si associa conseguentemente

anche il senso del tatto, che contribuisce in maniera

determinante all’accentuazione della sensazione data

da un determinato fattore cromatico.

Una superficie levigata di un determinato colore non

darà a chi la osserva e la tocca la stessa sensazione

rispetto a una superficie scabra e ruvida.

Colour as tactile experience

If asked “what is colour”, the ancients would have

answered “a subjective quality”. Today the scientific

answer could be “the appreciation of a visible radiation”.

In any case, colour is manifested as a sensorial

experience of the observer, normally associated with

the sense of sight. But if we consider for a moment

the feelings we get when we look at each colour, from

warm to cold, we realize that the sense of sight is also

linked to that of touch, which plays a determinant role in

reinforcing the sensation created by a certain chromatic

factor.A polished and smooth surface of a certain

colour will not give those who look at it and touch it the

same sensation as an uneven and rough one.
