1 The deposits are composed predominantly of organic material

2 Favourable microclimatic conditions (temperature and high relative humidity)

3 Ideal growth medium for various fungal and bacterial species and microorganisms (mites)

4 The air distribution system promotes the transport of dust and microorganisms to confined environments

Indoor pollution - the effects

From statistical surveys carried out on a sample of 112 buildings*

in North Italy, it was found that:

65% of the ducts are contaminated

65% of systems do not provide adequate air exchange

In 35% of the sampled buildings, allergy problems were found

10% of the sampled buildings are infected with pathological bacteria

In 8% of the buildings sampled were detected particles

of glass fibres in the air

In 4% of the buildings sampled was detected in the air monoxide

of carbon produced by vehicle traffic
